Εcclesiastical Museum of the Monastery of Panagia Tsambika

The Ecclesiastical Museum of the Holy Monastery of Panagia Tsambika is located in Archangelos, Rhodes. It is housed in the "Ontades" (i.e. lofts) building and it opened its gates to the public in 2012. The theme of its permanent exhibition is "The History and relics of the pilgrimage of the Holy Monastery of Panagia Tsambika, and the course of religious painting in the area of Rhodes".

The exhibition is developed in two thematic sections. The first section outlines the historical course of the monastery in general terms and presents how it is intertwined with the wider local history, while the second section presents the relics found in the Monastery, the majority of which were donated by believers.

More information on the identity of the artifacts in the collection can be drawn by utilizing the QR Codes in place and using your mobile phone. In the museum areas you will also discover "Stories behind the artifacts" and digital applications which contain rich multimedia content.

For our little friends, we have designed vibrant museopedagogical educational programs carried out in age-appropriate formats designed for every level of education, as well as a museum kit called "The promised offering", which contains rich educational material and can be borrowed upon request. Look for it!
